Skill Development Courses - Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University

Preamble

Livestock and poultry sector plays a pivotal role in the process of rural economic development of the state. Providing opportunities to learning about scientific information needs of livestock and poultry farming and allied activities will pave the way for employment and self employment which will bring desired socio-economic changes as well as to meet out the skilled man power requirement in the field of livestock and poultry farming enterprises.

Keeping this in view, the Directorate of Distance Education, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) is offering 10 courses under skill development with a minimum educational qualification ranging from read and write to degree qualification. The duration of these courses is ranging from 30 days to 90 working days. The course fee ranges from Rs.500/- to Rs. 5000/-. However, for most courses the fee ranges from Rs.1000/- to Rs. 3000/-. The list of Skill Development Courses, qualifications, duration, fees etc., refer the course schedule of Skill Development Course of Directorate of Distance Education, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.

Necessary course wise orientation will be provided and hands-on-training will be given to learners in relevant farms/ work environment to enhance their learning skills and self-confidence in which practical exposure will be given to the candidates.

Admission

The eligible candidates are admitted throughout the year for all the courses listed in the annexure after getting the filled in applications along with necessary documents and course fee.
On receipt of applications from the candidates, credentials are verified and scrutinized by the implementation centre/unit as well as by the Directorate of Distance Education, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.

All the qualified /selected candidates will be informed about the date of start and completion of the programme well in advance through the implementation centre /unit.
The admitted candidates are advised to appear in person for attending the courses.
Admissions to all the Skill Development courses are made throughout the year.
Necessary course fee is to be paid as DD in favour of “The Director of Distance Education, TANUVAS, Chennai – 35”.

Course Curriculum

The curriculum for each course has been designed by the concerned subject matter specialists identified by the university
Practical sessions and individual hands on practice in the identified farms are given topmost priority in all the Skill Development courses.

Content delivery / Learning sessions

Manual for each course has been printed and distributed to the enrolled candidates. Practical exercises during one month or as per the duration of the course have been designed. Accordingly the learning sessions are organized by all the implementation centres at district level.

Evaluation

The candidates are evaluated based on the examination conducted by the implementation centres and successful candidates are awarded completion certificates.
